When researching how to implement technology within ESL student learning, I came across this article called 10 Modern Ways to Use Technology in ESL Instruction. In this article, it discusses different strategies that teachers can use to help our english language learners gain a better understanding of what is being taught.

1. Film and Video- to help support and strengthen vocabulary and comprehension.
2. Apps- using apps that teach ESL students english is a great way to for them to practice their grammar, speech and vocabulary.
3. Digital Field Trips- allows the students to gain a better understanding through visuals.
4. Podcasts- allows students to improve their comprehension through listening.
5. Pen Pals- students are able to practice their English writing, grammar and comprehension skills.
6. Web Quests- ESL students have to rely on their content knowledge to grasp a better understanding of the English language in order to complete the task.
7. Online Games- who doesn’t like playing games? By allowing the students to engage in online games, they are able to gain a better understanding and master spelling, grammar, comprehension, etc.
8. Blogging- allows ESL students to practice on their English writing skills.
9. Skye- by using this application, students are able to have more practice with their speaking and listening skills with real people other than their teachers or classmates.
10. Other Resources- Dave’s ESL Cafe, Idea Cookbook and Audio Book- allow ESL students to continue working on their English writing, listening, speech, comprehension, etc.

All of these strategies are great resources that can help support and strengthen our ESL students. They also can help with the students 21st century skills that will allow them to become more successful in the future.
