Students with Learning Disabilities

It is very important, as a teacher, to understand what strategies to use when educating students with learning disabilities. There are many strategies that help meet the students individual needs which allow them to become more successful within their academics. One website that I came across online is called LDA (Learning Disabilities Association) of America. This website is filled with useful and knowledgeable information to help teachers gain an understanding of different strategies and approaches to use.

Two of the resources that the website provides that I thought were very interesting were:
1. "Current Practice Alerts"
Provides an abundant of information regarding learning disabilities, online teaching tutorials and resources.
2. "What Works Clearinghouse WWC"
Is a great website that allows educators to pick specific topics that provides information regarding programs, practices, products and policies.

By becoming more educated and aware of the different types of learning disabilities and utilizing programs and strategies that help support the students individual needs, we are able to set our students up for future success.

    I agree that there are help out there for these children., But the system is not putting the priority. Likewise some parents who believe they are the state responsibilty.

Using Technology in ESL Instruction

10 Modern Ways to Use Technology in ESL Instruction When researching how to implement technology within ESL student learning, I came across this article called 10 Modern Ways to Use Technology in ESL Instruction . In this article, it discusses different strategies that teachers can use to help our english language learners gain a better understanding of what is being taught. Film and Video- to help support and strengthen vocabulary and comprehension. Apps- using apps that teach ESL students english is a great way to for them to practice their grammar, speech and vocabulary. Digital Field Trips- allows the students to gain a better understanding through visuals. Podcasts- allows students to improve their comprehension through listening.
